People-first culture with real career opportunity, but product gaps and red tape create challenges

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Gainsight has a genuinely caring and supportive culture — strong benefits for employees and their families, and leadership shows up for teammates during tough times. There are real opportunities to take on new challenges and grow your career, especially when new initiatives or acquisitions open up fresh areas of focus. Company events are some of the best in the industry — high energy, customer-focused, and great for morale. Many passionate, mission-driven teammates who care deeply about customers.

      Cons

The product hasn’t kept up with the evolving market, and it often takes heroics to meet even basic customer needs. This puts a heavy burden on customer-facing teams, who are expected to deliver far beyond what’s scoped or supported. Acquisitions happen frequently, but it’s not always clear how the pieces fit together post-acquisition, which can lead to confusion and missed potential. In times of financial pressure, the company has historically deprioritized employee incentives and recognition, even as workloads increase. As the company has scaled, decision-making has slowed, and there’s noticeably more red tape.

Really appreciate this excellent input. So much resonates, and it's a reminder of what we need to focus on. On the product effort, I do think Customer Success Platforms take effort from both sides. What's amazing is how AI (eg Staircase or our native AI functionality) are not only reducing effort but also making people not have to do certain things at all. For example, traditional health scoring is a lot of effort (in any platform) due to the manual nature of rules-based scoring. The future of AI scoring is pretty exciting. But that doesn't take away from your feedback. On acquisitions, I hear you! I mentioned this in our all hands - we want to do even better with Skilljar. It does feel like the pieces are coming into place now - but I'm admittedly biased :) On the last one, I feel you - even I feel that way sometimes lol :) Def a big focus for us but also one I'd love input on. Appreciate you so much! Nick

      Pros

Good benefits and moderately good pay depending on the region. A lot of days off and a culture of celebrating work-life balance.

      Cons

The company's leadership has good intentions, but execution sometimes is slow. The company grew too much lately and some processes don't keep up. We have a feeling feedback is not being accounted for.

Thanks for sharing your experience. We’ll keep building on those strengths as we grow. I too sometimes struggle with the time zones and travel required given how globally distributed we are. Appreciate the reminder to keep the human-first spirit of Gainsight front and center as we bring in new folks and embrace change. Staying true to our 5 core values will always be a priority. Cheers, Chuck

      Pros

Remote and flexible work options, benefits are good, many long-tenured colleagues who are smart, skilled, and great to collaborate with.

      Cons

What was once a great place to work has deteriorated so badly that it should be avoided entirely. Career growth opportunities are limited (unless you are part of a select social clique), raises are minimal, layoffs have been unpredictable, and the company’s long-term strategy lacks clarity. The work environment is toxic and unpredictable, for example, leadership instructed employees to refrain from setting out-of-office messages and they were expected to check emails during the holidays, completely disregarding any work-life balance. Additionally, the HR team is disorganized and ineffective, eroding trust and morale across the organization.

      Pros

Most execs are exceptionally strong: transparent, supportive, innovative. Culture is supportive and human first; the values are REAL and not something just plastered on the wall. You see the exec team and leaders consistently demonstrating each of the 5 core values especially when times are tough: over communicating, clarity, enabling people managers to do the same. Benefits are incredibly comprehensive and generous globally - the company clearly looks for every opportunity to care for employees: world class parental leaves, they cover 100% of the employee only premium in the US etc.

      Cons

Consistent with most tech companies out there, merit increases and promotions have been impacted due to business performance. These growing pains have caused us to need to restructure and do some layoffs which does lead to uncertainty in our business outlook. Given all this we are needing to adjust the way we work to be more adaptable and higher performing - overall a great thing for Gainsight but a tough learning curve for some.
