      Pros

      - good food - great code

      Cons

      - work life balance - tight deadlines

Complete lack of vision and strategy

      Business Outlook

      Pros

You work on the latest and greatest technologies

      Cons

Leadership lacks vision and strategy, and they blame it on the engineers that they don't come up with innovative solutions. They continuously push for usage of AI to the point they've become delusional about it. They don't seem to understand there are still limitations to the technoloy. Eg. An ask is to write code once across every possible surface or OS - watches, tablets, phones, web.

      Bureaucracy and Politics Nightmare

      Business Outlook

      Pros

The perks are nice - free food, gym, salary is bay area rate.

      Cons

No one works over here or write actual god to honest code. No wonder Google cannot deliver anything. Folks only do documents, presentation and meetings. Too much politics, networking, bureaucracy. Your work will be used to take credit by someone else. Leaders keep on failing but keep on getting awarded.

Great place for growth, collaborative environment, but some room for improvement.

      Flutter developer

      Pros

Supportive Team Environment: The team at TechHive is incredibly collaborative, and the company encourages sharing knowledge and resources. As a Flutter developer, I had plenty of opportunities to learn from others and improve my skills. Flexible Work Hours: They’re quite flexible with working hours, which is a huge benefit for work-life balance. Remote work options were also available, making it easier to manage personal responsibilities alongside work. Focus on New Tech: TechHive actively supports using the latest Flutter updates and packages, which keeps the work exciting and relevant. The company encourages innovation and even supports developers in attending relevant workshops and conferences. Growth Opportunities: There are clear growth paths, and regular one-on-one meetings with managers help keep career goals on track. I had the chance to lead small projects, which helped me build my leadership skills.

      Cons

Occasional Tight Deadlines: Project deadlines can sometimes be a bit tight, leading to some long hours. While the company does try to acknowledge the extra effort, a bit more time for quality assurance would be beneficial. Communication Hiccups Across Departments: Occasionally, there were miscommunications between departments that delayed projects. A more streamlined approach to interdepartmental collaboration would make projects smoother. Limited Documentation for Legacy Code: Some of the legacy code wasn’t well-documented, which added time to projects. They’re working on improving this, but it can be a challenge for newcomers.

      Pros

Customization: Allows for custom calculation and plotting of Bollinger Bands based on adjusted close prices. Flexibility: Provides flexibility to adjust parameters and customize the Bollinger Bands calculation method according to specific requirements. Integration: Integrates the Bollinger Bands calculation seamlessly with existing data analysis workflows in R. Transparency: Enhances transparency by explicitly specifying the calculation steps for Bollinger Bands, aiding in understanding and interpretation. Efficiency: Optimizes code by directly plotting the calculated Bollinger Bands without unnecessary function arguments, improving efficiency.

      Cons

Complexity: Implementing custom functions for Bollinger Bands may introduce complexity, especially for those unfamiliar with R programming or financial analysis. Maintenance: Custom code requires ongoing maintenance to ensure compatibility with updates to R packages or changes in data sources. Error-prone: Custom implementations may be more susceptible to errors if not thoroughly tested or validated against established methods.

      - great WLB - great people - interesting work

      Cons

      - Difficulty getting promoted - Hard being productive with all the code reviews

      Pros

Great benefits, solid pay, incredible internal tooling. It's a nice place to code.

      Cons

If your manager sucks, you simply will not get promoted and it's really hard to move up. Megacorp bureaucracy was getting worse over the 4 years I was there, felt more and more like a "traditional" company every year.

      Pros

I had a great time! I felt that I really learned a lot of software engineering practices through code reviews. The free food is a big plus too.

      Cons

Because of the size of the company, you may not be able to be as productive and take on as many responsibilities as a small company

      Pros

Intelligent coworkers, Dogs allowed at the office. Excellent food. Unbelievable huge infrastructure.

      Cons

Increasingly bureaucratic. Almost entirely proprietary tools and code base. Perverse incentives for promotion lead to counterproductive churn. Very difficult to find answers to questions, though AI tools were improving that.
