Pros
You get to work on a platform where the internal team is making lots of improvements to internal tools and software. The tools use AI so they are meant to save you time. You also get to use fun software to create 3D renderings. It's fun to design spaces in general. Talking to clients and designing are the best parts.
Cons
This is a commission-based role. Before joining, they let you know 80% of your pay will be commission. It's hard work and clients are not required to buy anything. So you could design a room, work over 12 hours on one room design (through all deliverables and edits) and only get paid $200 which is $16/hour. This is the reality of a commission-based role. They will tell you you only should be spending 30 minutes on a vision board, 2 hours on a design proposal, and probably 2 hours on 3D renderings... if only it did take that short of time. Plus edits. Since it is a commission role, you will have to source furniture from particular vendors. You will need to have net sales of at least $25k for the month to be able to make a fair amount. Commission returns are also different when Havenly runs sales. Designers get paid less commission for an item when it is on sale, which one may say makes sense, however, the commission pay is not robust enough to take an additional 3% away from the designer.
Once a client does purchase, something often goes wrong because of supply chain logistics and some clients blame it on Havenly. When the client loses faith in Havenly, they don't want to purchase through the platform anymore leading to zero commission for the designer. Clients often also are unable to log in to the platform causing frustration and mistrust with the platform.
This is a sales role. You need a sense of style to do the job of course, but you are selling furniture. You will not make enough to live if you don't get clients to buy. A great-looking design is key to selling the products, however so is functionality so you will need to know the specifics of what you are selling and details about the materials.
This is a customer service role as well. You will hear complaints, you will have clients expecting boutique-styled full-service service. You will have clients who expect you to read their minds. You will have clients who ask you for unlimited edits and tell you from the start they will not be buying anything.
