Pros
Can work from home, Benefits, Continual improvements
Cons
Commuting and Systems go down sometimes
Pros
Good benefits and pto for staff
Cons
Long hours and weekends for staff
Pros
The people, the projects, work experience, good benefits but you wont get to use them because your life will just revolve around working.
Cons
Zero work life balance, high stress jobs, physically impossible to get the level of work completed, terrible pay, not enough resources. They capture a lot of field engineers out of college and lure them with competitive salary only to force them to work ridiculous hours so most employees would make more working at fast food restaurants. They're used to a revolving door of employees so they don't care about their current staff. They do a quarterly brainwashing session they called "culture school" where upper management tells you that their kids love moving 18 times in 3 years. When you get a promotion you will not see a pay increase. Management is good ole boy mentality. Project HR is outright mean and bitter. When I left Kiewit my pay increased by 20% and my weekly hours dropped by 25%. I had a great direct manager who tried to retain me by matching the new job offer but just felt like a slap in the face after working for years at such a deficit.
Pros
Good pay, top benefits, and a lot of training provided.
Cons
Work/Life Balance could be better.
Pros
Good starting pay, great benefits, learn a lot depending on management
Cons
Overworked like crazy, no respect at this position, expectations are unrealistic
Pros
Kiewit generally offers competitive salaries and comprehensive benefits, which are appreciated by the employees
Cons
high-pressure environment, especially when working on-site for major projects. This can lead to work-life balance challenges.
Pros
Benefits are really good in general as well as the pay. On top of the base pay there's Cost Of Living Adjustment and they give you a nice set amount of money to help you move. A common thing I always hear at work is how good Kiewit is for moving up the ladder. This position is good for a specific type of person though so I will mention that in the cons. Each year you get a number of free sessions for therapy and good health insurance. The therapy provided is from a separate company with their privacy policy so whatever said at therapy stays in that company. Kiewit overall is very focused on safety far more than you would think which is pretty nice because of all the things you're working around that can squish you. For reference very few people get hurt throughout the year and its normally something minor such as shoulder pain and I know this from reports. As long as you stay vigilant like they remind you, you will be safe. You get to go out into the field and be outside which is pretty nice. There are plenty of events for team building.
Cons
This job/company(from conversation with other workers) is good for people who like to work a lot, want to make a lot of money, are fine with being away from family and loved ones, and won't have too strong an attachment to staying in one place so this is not for everyone. Working as a field engineer I have noticed that many of us are always tired and a bit cranky from it. My schedule is pretty tight and needs to be structured each workday so if I miss the time I intend on sleeping by an hour, depression has a decent chance of showing up the next morning so if you are prone to depression be careful. For this one specific large project you should make it to work between 6:00 and 6:30 and try to aim to leave around 5:00 or 5:30. I say try because many times there are factors at play such as work that has to be done before you leave or a process that you have to watch over but it lasts longer than you had planned. A few things I've heard about more than I expected is how there is a high turnover rate, how a few other companies pay higher (I personally am fine/happy with the pay), the names of the other companies. This might also not be the place to have a long term relationship unless you are fine with distance, your partner has the ability to travel with you, or they work at Kiewit with you and are already married to you in which case there's good chance you'll be allowed to move between projects together. There are not many women but that's to a degree to be anticipated in construction. Saturdays from what I have seen is a likely occurrence. Being a field engineer there is a lot of paperwork.
Pros
great people , good benefits and pay
Cons
sometime gets too busy. long hrs sometimes.
Pros
Amazing company to work for! The leadership is supportive, the culture is positive, and the benefits are truly great. I feel valued and well taken care of. Highly recommend!
Cons
Work can be fast-paced at times, which may not suit everyone. Time management and adaptability are key.
Pros
I work in engineering and not construction management, but my company has always gone above and beyond to make sure I'm taken care of. From my compensation to health, retirement, and generous PTO benefits, I really don't have anything to complain about.
Cons
Kiewit is an employee owned company, and being given stock options can be very difficult on the engineering side of the company, but we receive other benefits and the opportunity for shorter hours which does make up for some of this.
