      Business Outlook

      Pros

      - Very casual and low commitment (only worked 3hrs a week + you are required to be available all times the centre is open to cover others - usually 3-4 times a week afternoons) - Work was not exhausting or difficult - Straightforward hiring process (just asked when I was available)

      Cons

      - Work is monotonic - Minimum wage pay with limited raises over the course of 1 year

Corporate Culture Sucks more than Good Benefits

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Fantastic benefits (health and retirement plans). Great networking opportunities with franchisees/instructors. Good entry level business consulting work. Compensated for gas. Travel sometimes for work.

      Cons

The company does not pay competitively for SF Bay Area - especially when it comes to business consulting. The HQ is in NJ and they don't understand that it's a completely different job market out here in the Silicon Valley. SF Team culture is terrible. No one works together to reach team goals, but we're held accountable for hitting numbers together. When the team doesn't reach the numbers everyone is held accountable. Each team member works as individuals in their own territories, even though we're all doing the same jobs. Peers in the same role do not help new people or set them up for success by sharing resources. No opportunities for growth within the company. Managers have all been there for 10-20 years and will likely be there for another 10-20 years, leaving no room for growth. Classic corporate management - it takes 2-3 business days to resolve internal questions directed to the specific team (i.e. HR/IT/Accounting) even if it's a simple question.

      Business Outlook

      Pros

      - get to interact with cute kids if you like working with children - coworkers are generally nice and drama free environment - ex manager was nice

      Cons

      - pay is peanuts.............. - management is unbelievably messy. When the new manager took over recently, she was strict and unlikeable. Revamped all the operations in our centre and the kids get less attention now. Isn't good for the kids that are truly struggling with their work. She insists that it's ok for them to do their work independently but when marking, they have even more mistakes than before. Don't agree with how kumon is run. I encourage independent learning but there should be guidance to some extent. The reason why they are in kumon is because they need help. They aren't going to improve if they are just thrown into the deep end like what you are doing with them now.

      Good starting job

      Business Outlook

      Pros

It was a fun starting job. The workload is fairly easy and simple yet the times are perfect for students since it’s around after hours. If you stay long enough you can ask to learn some administrative task for real world exposure. This location was great since everything was already structured and easy to communicate with people.

      Cons

Pay was a little low compared to work load. Not easy to move up.
