West Point will give you the most learning about the product side of the business. The people are kind and you truly will go a full summer learning a great deal.

I would say in operations, you have less tangible goals than technical operations interns. However, you will actually learn a lot more applicable material to the business than you will in tech ops, who get a very sugar coated version of the day-to-day of a Merck employee. The pay is slightly less competitive than other companies hiring engineers but you get a lot of benefits in the long term.

A lot of politics and if your not in a clique your not welcome. You have to drink the cool aid and play the politics. Everyone is stuck up there own but though. No one is genuine.

Merck is a great company, great benefits , competitive pay, and good culture in some areas of the company.

Company is declining under new CEO. It’s not what it was before. Morale has declined, alot of cuts have been made.

Good work life balance, decent pay and good staff

Unfortunately, contractors are treated like second class citizens. You end up preforming the same work for a fraction of the pay.

Great company with competitive salary, 401k and pension contribution. Great PTO policy with 25 days as a start plus 4 days year end company shutdown. The company/team supports decent work-life balance in general.

Directions and guidance from management could be unclear without anyone leading the initiative. Teams could be very siloed and it could take forever to figure out which teams we should collaborate with. This really hinders progress. Some teams on the IT side could be stretched quite thin without any cross-training or back up.
