Business Outlook
Pros
-The people are (for the most part) really cool and care a lot about what they do -The collections themselves are incredible
Cons
The Smithsonian's dependence on contract labor turns what could be incredible jobs and a positive working environment into one where everyone wants to leave, especially those who work for the Natural History Museum, for some reason. When an employee leaves, they are usually replaced by a contractor, who can't fulfill all the same duties as an employee, and those duties are shifted onto other employees, making them more likely to seek employment elsewhere. I've seen this cycle many times in my years of contracting. Also, contracting is tough because of the lack of benefits and job security.
