I applied through other source. I interviewed at Alan (Barcelona) in May 2026
Interview
Great initial transparency, but ultimate bait-and-switch on salary.
Pros:
I was initially impressed by the company's stated values, benefits, and the speed of the recruitment process. They also advertise transparent salary bands, which I greatly appreciated.
Cons:
Unfortunately, the transparency felt like a facade. Before my first call, HR confirmed that my expected salary aligned with my experience and their posted ranges. However, during the interview with the hiring manager, I was told they "don't offer that salary to everybody," contradicting what HR and their website stated.
When I advocated for my rate based on my years of experience, the hiring manager became dismissive, telling me that "salary isn't everything" and that I shouldn't be obsessed with it. It is unreasonable to expect candidates to leave secure positions for lateral or lower compensation.
The behavior during and after the interview felt unprofessional and disrespectful of my time.
I decided not to proceed.
