I recently interviewed for an L6 Account Manager position at AWS, and it was one of the most structured and data-driven interview processes I’ve experienced. The interview loop consisted of six one-hour sessions with different managers, all conducted via Amazon Chime in a single day.
Each interview followed the STAR format (Situation, Task, Action, Result), and it was clear that strong storytelling skills paired with measurable results were key. The interviewers expected detailed examples that demonstrated how I approached challenges, why I made certain decisions, and what data supported those choices. It wasn’t just about what I did, but about the reasoning and strategy behind it, backed by metrics that proved impact.
AWS places heavy emphasis on its Leadership Principles, and every question connected back to at least one of them. It’s important to weave these principles naturally into your stories, highlighting areas like customer obsession, ownership, earning trust, and delivering results.
Another critical point is to stay up to date with the new AI sales methodology AWS has been implementing. Having a clear understanding of how AWS integrates AI into its go-to-market strategy and how that drives customer outcomes can make a big difference in demonstrating both technical and strategic alignment.
Overall, the experience was challenging, fast-paced, and intellectually rewarding. It’s a great opportunity for anyone who enjoys working in a data-driven environment where strategic thinking, customer focus, and measurable results are at the center of everything.
