1. Application & Recruiter Screening
You apply online or via referral.
A recruiter contacts you to discuss your background, role fit, and confirm basic requirements (skills, work authorization, etc.).
If you pass, you’re scheduled for the next round.
🔹 2. Online Assessment (OA) (for some roles, especially L4 or early career)
May include:
Coding questions (on platforms like HackerRank)
System troubleshooting scenarios
Technical MCQs (Linux, Networking, Cloud, etc.)
Work simulation (how you respond to emails, incidents, or prioritization tasks)
🔹 3. Phone Interview (1–2 rounds)
Typically 45–60 minutes with a support engineer or manager.
Topics:
Troubleshooting complex technical issues (e.g., high memory usage, system slowness)
System/Linux/Networking fundamentals
AWS or cloud infrastructure knowledge
Scripting (Bash, Python)
Customer obsession scenarios
Behavioral questions based on Amazon’s Leadership Principles
➤ e.g., “Tell me about a time you solved a problem with little direction”
✅ Use the STAR format (Situation, Task, Action, Result)
🔹 4. Onsite / Virtual Final Loop (4–5 interviews)
Each 45–60 minutes. Panel includes peers, managers, and a Bar Raiser.
Interview focus:
Round Type What’s Evaluated
Technical/Operational Troubleshooting, monitoring, on-call experience
System Design (for mid-senior roles) How you’d design scalable systems or resolve incidents
Behavioral Leadership principles (ownership, bias for action, etc.)
Bar Raiser Culture fit, long-term potential, raising the hiring bar
🔹 5. Debrief & Offer
All interviewers submit feedback.
If you meet the bar and the Bar Raiser agrees, they may extend an offer.
Offer includes base, RSUs (Amazon stock), signing bonus, and relocation (if applicable).
