I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at American Civil Liberties Union (New York, NY) in May 2017
Interview
Strong value placed on commitment to ACLU's project goals. Excellent credentials are necessary but certainly not sufficient. Strong look to fit among staff; ease of collaboration among staff is key
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at American Civil Liberties Union
Interview
Their interview process is intended to eliminate bias by asking every applicant the exact same questions, and never building on previous answers or responding to anything the interviewee actually says. It results in extremely awkward and wooden interviews that make it difficult to assess what it would be like to work on the team and for the organization.

I interviewed at American Civil Liberties Union (New York, NY)
Interview
Interviewed via Zoom with two attorneys, including the leading attorney for the team. The two attorneys were talkative and encouraging, and the interview was conversational. They asked about my background and experience and explained it was a hybrid position.

Question 1
What is your particular interest in this position and how does your experience make you a good candidate for the position?
Awful. read from a script, no background on candidate or understanding of job. Dismissive also and not very nice. Felt like she didn’t care to actually talk. Very disappointing that the organization used its money to hire an unskilled HR person like this.
