A complete waste of time - the company didn’t know what they wanted and wasted a month and a half of my time. I had 4 rounds in total with stakeholders including the TA team, the current person in the role, and some new VP. The process including a detailed case study for - and I quote - “a totally fictional product”. I received really strong, positive feedback at different points. In the final interview, they asked me, “If we made you an offer and so did another company, would you accept it?” To which I said yes, I would absolutely accept AutoStore’s offer. And then two days later, they rejected me saying they were reassessing the role’s requirements - following which, they:
1) Reposted the job with a different description, focusing on one part of the product marketing function, using words and processes that sounded not only shockingly similar to everything I had told them, but even mirrored the whole sequence.
2) I saw my work from the case study reflected in their bi-annual product launch announcement.
I know companies can stoop low, but this is a new level - they knew I had been laid off, they knew I was keen on the job, they saw the effort I put in, and then they gave me the most robotic automated rejection after putting me through the entire process. The least they could’ve done was bring in the stakeholders to offer constructive feedback, which I asked for, but nope. Complete crickets. I’d avoid interviewing for this role/the marketing function.
