I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at BBC (London, England) in Dec 2019
Interview
The process was ok, I initially had a technical assignment which required to be completed within a week or two. The assignment was quite straight forward - I had to implement Game of Life (the standard rules). I was invited for an on-site interview a week after I sent my implementation. The on-site interview consisted of 3 interviews: 1 Behavioural, 1 Technical(went through my implementation of Game life and had some questions on how would I approach if I need to implement new features) and 1 Group Exercise.
The Behavioural was quite straight forward.
The Technical wasn't difficult and was quite relaxing.
The Group exercise was run with other candidates, and we had to design a floor plan for a new BBC building. I found it very irrelevant. It was supposed to showcase communication and teamwork skills but I don't think that's a good way to measure these skills.
After I finished with the interview we were told we'll hear back within 2 weeks. I emailed them twice asking about an update after those two weeks. Still haven't heard from them.
I realised the HR department was extremely poor in terms of communication. At leas they could have replied to my emails...
I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at BBC (Newcastle upon Tyne, England) in Apr 2026
Interview
First was the technical interview, then it was the competency interview. Both asked lots of questions with most of them having follow ups. The interviews lasted around 30 - 40 minutes respectively.

Interview
Split into two virtual sessions, a technical interview and a competency one. Had to explain my solution for a take-home test and any improvements I would make. The interviewers were very welcoming and allowed the opportunity to ask any questions.
