I applied online. I interviewed at BabyBots (Houston, TX) in Jan 2026
Interview
It was extremely quick, only two rounds and a Power Automate assessment. I believe they were trying to fill the role ASAP for an upcoming project. First round was mostly fit questions and I was interviewed directly by the founder/CEO. Second round was a review of my assessment, remote/hybrid discussion and a salary “negotiation”, although there was no back and forth as the owner seemed pretty locked in on the salary even after I quoted the number I would need to sign on. I did receive an offer extremely fast, but compared to my current position (and market averages for an automation engineer with any experience in general) the benefits/salary/PTO were pretty below market average, as well as occasional travel to Houston being required. My biggest qualm was the PTO, as combined it was a large cut from where I work currently; not enough to be sick or to take a vacation. The founder seemed passionate and was easy to talk to, but they definitely needed someone very quickly and wanted me to start within a week, which made it feel pretty high pressure. I liked the work they were doing as I’ve been involved in automation since I graduated, but I couldn’t justify a move backwards financially so I ended up declining the offer.
