I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Barstool Sports
There was a quick and straightforward process getting set up via email and on Zoom. I did three interviews in total, all were conducted in an efficient and professional manner. The hiring timeline and final decision was incredibly transparent.
- What platforms do you see with the most upside for community engagement?

The interview process was pretty straight forward and easy. There were a total of three interviews with three different people via google meet. The questions were typical, and they honestly asked the same questions for each one. After the last interview the recruiter for their company asked me to take an Excel sheet test, which felt like they sprung it on me. I wish they would have given me the test first so I wouldn't have wasted my time with 3 interviews in the first place (which took 3 weeks). The Excel test had a bunch of word problems and then a second sheet where you had to fill out the rest of the information. After I finished the test I emailed them a copy, and they didn't respond after that.
- What was a stressful situation and how did you handle it?

Very easy going interview process with the whole team. They go over your resume and ask questions they have about you and your previous jobs. The whole crew is extremely nice and personable.
- Why do you want to work here?

It was good they were very well organized and let me know if I go the job in the appropriate amount of time. The interviews were very short, only about 30 minutes each.
- Tell me about your current position.

The interview process at barstool sports was average and very quick process. Rapid feedback and multiple rounds. Started by speaking to Human Resources and then hiring manager. After that I declined the offer

I was told that I made it to the second round and was scheduled to have an interview yet no one showed up. I contacted them about it and they seems apologetic but never rescheduled.
- What background do you have, which makes you a good fit?

Several interviews just to get a bs “we’re pausing this position” email. Meanwhile, they’re still clearly hiring. No issue being rejected but I’d take a “you weren’t a good fit” over that.
- Q: Explain your past experience? Q: What’s a challenge you’ve overcome your current position? Q: Are you okay with the position knowing the controversy surrounding Barstool?

30 minute phone call with a recruiter. Minimal questions asked during the interview, not much detail on my personal experience or role. Did not get a complete overview of the open position or team dynamic.
- Why are you interested in Barstool?

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Barstool Sports (New York, NY) in Mar 2022
The interview was very informal, the interviewer was easygoing and not intimidating. The interview was more focused on ideas you had for the company rather than typical questions like what is your biggest strength.
- What ideas do you have for the company?

I submitted an online application and later was asked to set up a screening call with the hiring manager. The screening call with Nick M went well, and he proceeded to set up a call with the VP overseeing this role. My meeting with the VP was great, and our perspectives aligned pretty well. The VP asked for me to put together a relevant sample of a pitch for his review. I was happy to put in the time to provide this sample, however, upon delivery, I was ghosted by both the VP and Nick. I followed up about 3 weeks after my initial call just to confirm if they had received the pitch deck that I emailed to them. I followed up again about 2 more times with both VP and Nick (I waited 2 weeks between each email). I completely understand if I'm not the guy for the job, but to be asked to dedicate time to a pitch like that and never hear back is quite disrespectful. I am disappointed to see how they treat applicants who are willing to dedicate time and effort to them.
- They asked about experience and perspective regarding the role.
