I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Beatdapp (Vancouver, BC) in Apr 2024
Interview
Interview was about 45 minutes in total. Was greeted by the CTO, who got straight into it. Asked me 3 SQL questions all quite basic. Then he showed graphs of spotify users with the average listeners per month and asked how suspicious each looked.

Question 1
Between 1-10 in your opinion looking at these graphs, how likely do you think this user has used bots streams.
Got a google form a few days after application. Had data science relevant questions like a pst projects, familiarity with tools, etc. But it also had non-data science questions. Didn’t get the point of asking “do you follow us on LinkedIn” (seems like a way to get more followers on LinkedIn through the recruitment process). NO RESPONSE EVER SINCE. Not even a generic rejection. I sent another follow up email, personally addressed to the sender, to express my interest, but of course it was in vain. If my response doesn’t meet your expectation, direct and candid communication is still fine. I’ve seen similar comments here on Glassdoor, so seems to lack basic respect towards candidates.

Question 1
your favourite musicians, do you play an instrument
Beatdapp contacted me at the beginning of August after I applied on 21 June. I was genuinely excited when Beatdapp invited me to the second round for a UI/UX role. I completed their survey and even sent a polite follow-up email. I expressed my enthusiasm in my email and asked about the next steps. Beatdapp never responded to my follow-up. This lack of communication felt discourteous and left me needing clarification about my application status. I understand that companies receive many applications. Extending a direct invitation and not following up is disappointing. Candidates must stay engaged and motivated through clear communication.
