Betaworks interview questions

I applied to a specific position and was called in for an in-person interview after a few phone calls and a design test. The interview seemed to go well, they all seemed to like what I presented from my design test, but I received an email saying, "we're going in a different direction for this current role." It seems like this could have been communicated before I came in to interview. As a followup, I connected with the HR representative about other available positions in the company. She seemed enthusiastic about helping me out, but then stopped responding to emails. They produce great work and it seems like a cool environment, I just wish their communication was more professional.
