    Junior Marketing Specialist Interview

    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Blue Fountain Media (New York, NY) in April 2008.

    Interview

I applied online, then forgot about the application for a while until I got a response. In the email, there were questions related to the position I was going for. I answered them as well as I could. Then I got called in to do an in-person interview, following a quick questions over the phone. I took time to learn about the company, and it paid-off during the in-person interview. I was able to address a few items that were very relevant.

The office back then was a small loft (we're now on a full floor at Madison Ave). It had a very chill vibe.

    Interview Questions

    • Why should I hire someone in-house versus use a freelancer?   Answer Question

    Negotiation

I just wanted to work there, so there was no need to negotiate.

    Interview

I was recruited and interviewed directly with the CEO... at first I was blown away but Gabe is very approachable and a hands-on leader once you know him and work here.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Blue Fountain Media in November 2014.

    Interview

I applied online, and was contacted within the week, then had my first interview early the following week with their recruiter, who was enthusiastic and professional. He had a lot of helpful insight into the company, and helped my decision making process. I then interviewed w/ my future boss later that week, who was very thorough, and we talked for over an hour even though her schedule was insanely busy, and I left feeling even more positive about this position. I thought I would be meeting with the CEO before their final decision, but I received and offer letter the following week. And then I started a week and a half later. So overall I thought the interview process was relatively quick but very detailed, so I was confident it was a good match and accepted and here I am now.

    Interview Questions

    • I researched a bit before doing any interviews and have been in this industry for quite a while so felt pretty confident so was more curious about the company itself. So I wouldn't call it difficult, but the biggest challenge was describing my own process, as every agency has their own, so I needed to make sure our were in sync and I would be able to adapt and fit into theirs seamlessly.   Answer Question

    Negotiation

Very straightforward and professional, I was satisfied with the compromise and assume they were as well.

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took a week. I interviewed at Blue Fountain Media (New York, NY) in April 2013.

    Interview

I was appalled by the unprofessional nature of the interview. The CEO was rude and very abrupt with me. He had no interest in hearing about my professional background and tried to talk me into a below-average salary based on unattainable goals.

    Interview Questions

    • Most unexpected questions were regarding salary expectations. I couldn't below how little pay the company was offering, and how difficult they are making it for people in this particular role to make a decent living.   Answer Question

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Blue Fountain Media (New York, NY) in October 2010.

    Interview

I was recruited. Received an initial call to qualify me. Then, took an at home test that took over 2 hours to gauge my understanding of the industry overall. Then, had 2 in person interviews.

    Negotiation

Very little negotiation accepted. It was take it or leave it.

    Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Blue Fountain Media in March 2014.

    Interview

This is the MOST unprofessional interview I have been on. It was clear that my interviewer did not come prepared with sensible and pertinent questions to the position. The interviewers constant gaze on his while responding to his first question was my first indication of how UNPROFESSIONAL they were.

    • How will you start building a website? (Not the question expected for a Business Consultant Role)   Answer Question

    Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Blue Fountain Media (New York, NY) in September 2016.

    Interview

I was heckled the entire time by a member of upper management. He made fun of everything from my previous experience to my upbringing. There were several assumptions made about my socio-economic status based on where I grew up and where I currently lived. I ended the interview and immediately contacted HR to tell them I was taking myself out of the running for the position. My experience was not right for the position.

    Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Blue Fountain Media (New York, NY) in May 2014.

    Interview

After filling out a questionnaire supplied by HR via email they asked me to come in and meet with the CEO and Head of Sales. The CEO is in shorts and a t shirt. They look over my resume and deem I'm not qualified for the role. I ask why they invited me in and I get "I guess we need a better screening process". The quickest interview of my life. What a waste.
