I applied online. I interviewed at Brainkind (Horsham, England) in Jun 2026
Interview
The interview itself took around an hour even though it was meant to take around 45 minutes. The interviewers were very kind and supportive for my reasonable adjustments. I missed out on an offer for the job because someone else had slightly more relevant experience than me but I did not get any feedback on how I could have improved.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They asked me 12 questions related to the service, current research I had read, and some curveball questions such as using statistics software.
Worst application experience I've ever had. Asked to produce a policy brief, a presentation on a report as well as do a 45 min interview. All in all 2 hours at interview and a lot more in preparation. The interview went well, I was told I had answered everything. I received an automated email of one line saying my 'application was unsuccessful'. It was from a noreply email address. Assumed this was an error and an email from one of the interviewees would come through with feedback but it didn't. When I reached out to ask for feedback to those who interviewed me I was ignored. They kept my brief, my presentation and all the work, research and ideas within. I applied under the guaranteed interview scheme as a disabled candidate, so extra disturbing that this is the level of respect they have for people with disabilities. I didn't expect to get the job but I didn't expect this treatment either.

Question 1
General competency based questions plus 2 presentations
Terrible experience, was not told it would be a competency based interview so had not prepared for it. Other places always tell you.
Poor on Brainkind's part not to advise but haven't let the experience get me down. If I had been told it was competency based, I would have had my examples ready. Also from the questions being asked about values, which employers pretend to care about when they don't and the people on the interview panel which I struggled to see me getting on with everyday, it did show me that this wasn't the place for me.

Question 1
They were competency based and included two questions about Brainkind's values.
