I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Broadcom (Santa Clara, CA) in Aug 2011
Interview
initial phone round followed with onsite interview.
During phone round, questions were asked from my resume and about my projects. During onsite, I had 5 rounds
one round digital design questions ....not too tough
one round white board solutions of a logical problem using some programming language ( even pseudo code works )
one round, to talk about my favorite project
One round , lunch with a teammate ...mostly behavioral
One round of scripting / Behavioral questions ( having scripting knowledge is helpful )

I applied the position online in Sept and got the onsite in Oct. The interview is six rounds and they asked questions based on your projects and basic C code questions. Also, some questions are really flexible but over all it is not too hard if you are not nervous.
Applied by internal referral. One phone interview and one on-site interview. The whole process takes two weeks. Phone interview covers basic analog and digital circuit knowledge, lasting for 1 hour. On-site interview was in Broadcom Irvine with 6 managers and 1 hiring coordinator, lasting for 6.5 hours. The interview process with each manager was introducing my past project and solving analog/RF circuits. The interview process with the hiring coordinator was about the employee benefit (promotion opportunity, stock compensation, etc).

Question 1
The on-site interview is mainly solving circuits. There are questions whose answers are not obvious, including mismatch contributors and fix in two-stage op-amp, limit of intrinsic gain for common-source amplifier. But managers gave hints that helped me through all the questions.
