I completed 2-3 virtual interviews and an unpaid assignment that was requested of me, before being invited to interview on-site for 3 hours with 5 different people. It was fairly grueling, lasted too long and the more elevated the interviewers were, the less friendly they seemed. In the end, I was not offered the job. I received the generic "we're going with another candidate" email, however, I immediately saw the position re-listed, as it has been since. They did provide me with a $100 gift card, which, while better than nothing, paled in comparison to the time spent in and prepping for interviews and doing free work with no payoff. The experience made me wonder if they were/are in fact even hiring for the roles they list, or if they're just constantly fishing for ideas from a pool of talent desperate to be employed and willing to do unpaid assignments to prove themselves. Calpak should be ashamed of regularly taking advantage of people like that. Pay candidates for their work, or don't ask them to do it as part of the interview process.
