I applied in-person. I interviewed at Chef's Palette
Interview
The non-formal interview process, just asked when can you start. I was recommended by an ex-coworker that worked there before I did. There was no need for an interview really.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Chef's Palette (Cary, NC) in Jan 2014
Interview
I was asked about my food and drink knowledge, and days I was available to work. I took a menu test as well as a bar test. I was given a tour of the restaurant and introduced to the staff.
I was given an text arranging a time I could do a job trial, there was no real interview. The owner had no real intention on hiring me, just filling a gap he had in employment. I wasn't paid for the 4 hours I worked, and on the day I was supposed to be observed the owner was moving house so he wasn't even present.
