I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Chewy in Oct 2023
Interview
The most difficult and soul-sucking interview process I have gone through.
I removed myself from the process in the middle of the final round of interviews because I knew if I felt this bad from just the interviews then it wasn't a culture I wanted to work in,
Interview Key Takeaways:
-Cried after two different interviews. Primarily due to the tone and demeanor of the interviewers.
-Interviews with them for a total of 4 hours, and had a total of 15 minutes of time where I could ask questions. I learned nothing that wasn't posted on their career page about the culture, team dynamics, or management style.
-Had to follow up with the Recruiter multiple times to get the next interviews scheduled and get the pre-interview "prep" sessions scheduled.
Company Key Takeaways:
-Required relocation if you're not already in the Seattle/Boston area.
-Required 2-3 days in office, even though the hiring manager only comes into office 1 day every few weeks. Reasoning being "the CEO wants the collaboration" but you'd just be on zooms the whole time regardless.
It's clear the company, because it's filled with ex-Amazon, views itself very highly. I was personally unimpressed with the majority of the people I met, in terms of their soft/social skills.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Look at their Operating Principles (ripoff of amazons) they are just going to ask questions around those.
Interviewed with about five people… Everyone was super friendly. Questions were what you would expect. Make sure to study the operating principles and reference those in an interview, they will notice the extra time and effort put into the interview. Overall, I think it was a good experience.
I applied online. I interviewed at Chewy in Jan 2026
Interview
The process was very lengthy. I went through a recruiter, a hiring manager, a technology director, and then an interview loop with 4 peers. While I found everyone to be really pleasant and on point, the recruiter was kind of a mess - didn't follow through, and, overall, ruined the experience. I prepared very well for all the interviews, but in the end, they chose someone else, which is not an issue - that's how the market is these days. However, I would have appreciated it if HR had been more considerate of my time.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
A lot of situational/behavioral questions. The interview is very Amazon-like, where you start from a situation, and then they drill into the problem as much as possible. The structure of the interview, where you have the loop as a final step, is also an Amazon-specific process, which I find to be quite time-wasting on both sides.
I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Chewy (Bellevue, WA) in Jun 2024
Interview
I had prepared thoroughly, discussing customer insights, innovation strategies, and her love for pets. The hiring manager at Chewy appreciated my passion and problem-solving skills. However a week later I was told that they found someone else for the role.
