The interview consisted of two parts. First was the behaviours section, which was 3 scripted questions where you get roughly 5 minutes to answer using the STAR format. Then, you move onto the strengths questions which are shorter questions.

Interview
Applied online via Civil Service Jobs. After submitting a personal statement/CV, I was invited to complete online tests (situational judgement and numerical/verbal reasoning). The next stage was a video interview focused on Civil Service behaviours and strengths, using STAR examples. Final interview was panel-based (about 45 minutes) with two interviewers, assessing behaviours such as “Delivering at Pace” and “Working Together.” Questions were straightforward but detailed — they wanted real examples of past experience. Overall process was structured, professional, and transparent, but took several weeks due to pre-employment checks.

Invited to an initial screening interview then a more in depth one. Interview invites were considerably later than stated dates and communication was minimal. The interview was very focused on behaviours.
