      Product Support Specialist Interview

      Aug 26, 2022
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at CoinTracker in Jul 2022

      Interview

The interview process is long, involved, and demanding, but also open and transparent. - The process of applying involved answering a few questions that were technical in nature and required the applicant to study the product. It took me 2 hours to complete and submit. - After the application stage, I was invited for the initial screen with a team member. Questions revolved around past support experience, crypto experience, and familiarity with software and tools. - I was then invited to participate in a take-home assignment. All the jobs I've applied to required completing an assignment. It is an excellent resource to test relevant experience and a candidate's approach to problems. I was given 96 hours to complete it. Due to a personal emergency, I wasn't able to complete it for 3 weeks. The interviewers kept in touch to see if I needed help and I was graciously given the extra time to complete it. It took me 4 hours to complete the assignment. - A couple of days after the submission, I was invited to meet with the hiring manager. It was an hour-long interview to discuss my work experience in-depth and was also encouraged to ask questions. The hiring manager told me upfront that I was being progressed to the final interview with the founder. - The founder interview which was the final interview, was more of a values interview to check value alignment and mutual fit. - I heard back from the hiring manager 5 days later for references. They were contacted within the day and I had an offer the next day. The process was extremely quick and transparent. - The hiring manager made sure I had everything I needed, answered my questions, and kept in touch every week. It was one of the most transparent candidate experiences of my professional life and all the people I interacted with during the process were super involved, supportive, and sincere.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at CoinTracker

      Interview

Had a 30 minute interview with basic questions. Had the same take-home assignment referenced below, which I’m convinced is being used for data mining or something. (See other interviews for the exact questions). Rant: The app is garbage and doesn’t work. This company is understaffed and doesn’t respond to their customers and supposedly needs help, but rejects viable candidates with no explanation or feedback. Look up the subreddit for users trying to get a response and radio silence from the company. (They have plenty of time to reject candidates and ask for updates on how the take-home assignment is coming along—LOL). Apply elsewhere. Literally anywhere else. There are better crypto apps to use too—don’t give them your data. Place is a hot mess express and I’m kind of relieved I didn’t get an offer, because the interview process is likely indicative of how you’d be treated as an employee.

See previous interviews. I had the exact same take-home assignment.

Thank you for leaving this review about our interview process. We're sorry to hear that you did not find this to be a positive experience. We'll readily admit that our process is vigorous, as we want to firmly vet that every candidate we extend an offer to is value-aligned and highly capable of executing in a fully remote team. We appreciate your concern about the interview questions being used for data mining, but we can confirm that this is certainly not the case. Again, we're sorry to hear that it wasn't a good fit. Thank you again for taking the time to leave a review.
