I was directed to the position through an external recruiter. The interview process began with a phone interview with the IT Manager. The phone call was a good hour long conversation about my work experience and expectations, the company, and the underlying technology. About two days later, I was invited to an on-site interview. Usually, if the first on-site interview was successful, then the candidate would be invited back to interview with the head of HR and the CEO. However, since I was expecting an offer from another company, they were gracious enough to combine both steps in one visit.
The onsite interview process lasted for about 5 hours as I had multiple interviews with various management personnel. Half way through, they provided lunch for me. I interviewed with the following people:
* IT Manager
* Software Architect
* Product Manager
* Director of People Services (HR)
* CEO
The technical aspect of the interview was primarily done by the Software Architect who asked technical knowledge questions regarding various software development technologies such as databases, C#, JavaScript, XML, etc and also asked for amount of experience in each area.
Overall, the interview process felt very thorough and allowed them to understand what I brought to the table and allowed me to understand the position and the company I was considering. I received an offer from Compare.com one or two business days after interview.
After accepting the offer, I came onsite to authorize a background check and take a drug test prior to my start date.
