I had initially been offered a virtual first-round interview with HR, which I scheduled right away for about a week later. However, less than 24 hours before the interview, I was informed that I would instead need to come into the office in person because that was their policy—despite the interview originally being offered and confirmed as virtual.
Unfortunately, due to my current employer's in-office policy, I wasn't able to accommodate such a last-minute change. Rather than working with me to find an alternative or honoring the interview format that had already been scheduled, communication stopped altogether and I was effectively ghosted.
**It** was a disappointing and unprofessional experience, especially for a first-round HR interview. I understand that companies have hiring policies, but changing the format at the last minute without flexibility or follow-up did not leave a positive impression.
