Here is an extensive review of my experience. 1 hour initial interview, a 3 hour take home assessment, and a 4 hour interview after you passed the assessment. Eight hours of unpaid work for a coordinator position that pays hourly. That was the first red flag, but because I'm a fan of the brand, I was excited to continue. I saw many Glassdoor interview reviews that shared my concerns regarding culture. I was really excited for this position since it was right up my alley with my international, marketing, & entertainment industry background- however, they weren't interested in my background academically, professionally, or personally. Rather almost the entire team was on a mission to "test" me on everything the take home assessment already did. (Pssst, this is the part where we get to know each other) The ongoing interrogation hinted that they don't have faith in their training process, or HR pushing through qualified candidates ( who were very friendly and helpful throughout this process). Mostly I was shocked at the poor interpersonal skills I witnessed. Except for one, the interviewers were cold, and or tried to belittle my accomplishments despite being qualified. One man laughed in my face when I said I liked drawing manga, and said "it's okay to not like anime" when I mentioned I was a fan of a popular show. I guess I didn't fit the stereotypical fandom as a woman. The last man I spoke with was the most passive aggressive and dismissive of them all- he asked no questions about myself, quizzed me on minute details in what I assume was an attempt to trip me up, and rather than answering instead boasted about his achievements when I asked him about the culture (the irony..) It was like I reached the "final boss" of Crunchyroll interviews- I was completely turned off at this point. I asked all 5 about the culture, weary of the Glassdoor reviews, but couldn't get a straight answer. If I was offered the position I don't believe I could have accepted without another chat with the team to confirm cultural compatibility. There are a number of poor reviews on here with similar concerns, both from current employees and candidates. My advice is to take those reviews seriously, prepare for a lengthy process, and don't bring up anime.. even if you're a fan- big or small- at the risk of sounding like a sycophant. I got the vibe that working here would be an uphill battle in winning over the team's approval & flattering egos. For how prepared they expect their candidates to be, you would expect this process to have been nothing short of extraordinary. I was just relieved I didn't work there by the end.
