I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Debenhams
Interview
1st, filled out an online application
2nd, passed that and had to book telephone interview
3rd, got telephone interview and was told a few days later I had passed
4th, a group and 1 on 1 interview with a manager
5th, received a phone call a couple days later from another department's manager in Debenhams asking to take me on instead with more hours 20 instead of 12.
I was told they like to hire internally and rarely do interviews with management because it takes up so much time. So if you really want to work with Debenhams try phone up a store and ask to speak to a manager and tell them you will come in with a CV and to keep you on file.

Question 1
What skills and qualities does a retail advisor need?

Interview
First of all an online application, then phone interview, they took a few days to tell me I was successful and then got told I had a store interview. The store interview was me and two other girls, interviewed by one manager and a couple supervisors. We had to make a retail “superhero” and list all the attributes that makes a great employee in retail. Then a one on one interview, the woman I had seemed less than interested and was very rude about my answers. I then never heard back at all, they didn’t tell me to bring my passport so that was a clue they weren’t interested from the beginning! I got a call a week later from the women’s wear manager who was very understaffed because people were leaving for uni, so got my job in women’s wear based on understaffing and having a recent interview! Blind luck! Weird process, but been there a year now and the team are great :) although women’s wear is very fast paced, intense and basically all your worth is how many credit cards you open! :)
