I applied online. I interviewed at DuVine Cycling + Adventure
Interview
I had a great Skype interview with the Director of Sales, who is a thoughtful interviewer. And I then came in the following week for an in-person interview with the sales team. I enjoyed every person I met with, except for the CEO. Had I not met with him, I likely would’ve accepted the job. He was arrogant, belittling, didn’t let me speak even after asking me a question. It was a frustrating experience, and I felt I was being talked down to because of my age and gender. I was truly disappointed, because I really wanted this position and I connected with the team. Ultimately, I did not accept the offer because of him. At a small company or at a start-up, the CEO’s personality largely affects the workplace culture/environment.
I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at DuVine Cycling + Adventure in Nov 2018
Interview
Submitted an application to them in September and heard nothing for a few months, then was contacted in November for interviews.
Started with a Skype interview with the Sales Manager that went smoothly and well, and was brought in for an in-person interview.
From here, it got a little less organized. I arrived 10 minutes early, and by the time of the scheduled interview, they still were not ready and were generally a bit disorganized. Luckily I had brought copies of my resume for them.
Interviewed with what started as two people, then grew to as large as four people, and eventually met with the owner. There was a bit of an odd mismatch between their decades long plus history as a company, and their constant reminding that the company was a "startup", perhaps there was a rebranding and restructuring.
I was told I would hear in a matter of days, maximum.
Following the in-person, I proceeded with typical follow up courtesies and was constantly told to keep waiting. Eventually did hear back and they decided to move in another direction, but the delays were frustrating.
