I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at FAA (Renton, WA) in Apr 2014
Interview
timeline tool is based on a generic process model for conducting efficient, high-quality hiring. Your agency may have more, fewer, or a different order of steps. However, OPM's model will help you identify similar steps in your process and diagnose areas of greatest need for improvement.
Here is how the tool works:
First, you'll explore each step in the OPM hiring process model and the recommended days to complete each step.
Second, you'll enter the number of days your agency actually takes to complete each step. As you progress, you'll learn which steps may be the highest priorities for your agency to adjust.
Third, you'll learn which of your steps deviate the most from the OPM model.

Interview
It was a nice interview with 3 members from the different offices across the US. Process was very very slow. From when I initially applied at the career fair it was about 2 months until I was contacted for an interview. Then another 2 months before a decision was made.

Question 1
Tell us about a mistake you made and how you handled it.
I applied online, then had a phone interview, and an in person interview. The in person interview was thorough and pleasant, and included meeting multiple other engineers and a facility tour. The benefits package was explained right away, and no question was off limits - very transparent.
It was a waste of my time. I knew they were not going to offer me the position. The interview process was really slow. I was called for an interview 4 months after the posting closed.
