      Production Assistant Interview

      Mar 14, 2017
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at FOX News (New York, NY) in Mar 2017

      Interview

A coordinator reached out to my email asking if I would meet with the EP of a Fox Business show. I met with her and it went well, she was a delight and seemed genuinely interested in my experience and interests. After a few days she set up a meeting with the VPs of Fox Business. That meeting went incredibly worse, as one VP proceeded to immediately make fun of one of my past employers and then crack sexist jokes. The other VP seemed uncomfortable, but did not comment on his partner's inappropriate manner. They then grilled me on why I wanted to switch from comedy to news, but I was still very taken aback by the previous comments and language. They said they would have an answer for me by the end of the week. When I didn't hear back after a week, I reached out to the EP, who told me they decided they weren't going to hire any time soon. I then learned from an inside source that they did in fact hire someone for the position. It was, overall, a confusing and awkward process rank in unprofessionalism.

      Application

I interviewed at FOX News (New York, NY) in Sep 2025

      Interview

The interview process started with an initial recruiter screen over the phone. It was mostly behavioral — questions about past experience, ability to handle fast-paced environments, multitasking, and working under pressure. They also asked about availability, especially early mornings and long production days. After that, I had a second interview with members of the production team. This was more situational and focused on how I would handle real production scenarios — tight deadlines, last-minute changes, dealing with talent, coordinating logistics, and staying organized on set. They wanted specific examples of times I worked in high-pressure environments.
