I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at First Republic (San Francisco, CA) in Jun 2010
Interview
Formal, friendly, 1-4 interviewers in the room
Most of the focus was on inter-relational aspects (building and reaching consensus), being inclusive, following processes
Beware that FRB conducts strict background checks and that many fail to clear that hurdle

Question 1
As usual, beware of behavioral questions - FRB is a traditional and consensus driven place.
This means: be inclusive, be thorough, drive the process and always defer to the business side for the last word.
FRB is very traditional and the business and IT sides have not really managed to create effective synergy. This means that the business side wants to drive IT without too many concerns about cost/complexity/feasibility .
Great long process multiple interviews this bank is no longer in business brought by chase. Former employees are scattered throughout footprint no other banks around that are like first republic bank
I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at First Republic in Jan 2023
Interview
Phone screen, manager call, 2 panel rounds of 3 people each for 30 minutes. Well organized for different themes. Recruiter moved through and scheduled quickly so it was very smooth and well organized overall.

Question 1
Behavioral / situational style - "tell me about a time when...."
Lengthy process with over 6 people across 4 weeks so be prepared. The bank is known for having a slow process for hiring but it results in very low turnover
