      Advanced Engineering Program Interview

      Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Fluke Networks (Colorado Springs, CO) in Oct 2010

      Interview

I had never even heard of Fluke Networks until I met them at my university's career fair. I talked with one of recruiters (an engineer) for a while and handed him my resume. The next day, I received a call from the recruiter inviting me to an on-campus interview. The on-campus interview lasted about 45 minutes. I was interviewed by the same person I met in the career fair. (There was supposed to be another interviewer in the room, but he had to leave before the interview.) The interview consisted of easy technical questions and behavioral questions. After a few days, I received an e-mail saying that I've been selected for an on-site interview and that I'm being considered for the Advanced Engineering Program (AEP). The on-site interview consisted of three technical interviews, one behavioral interview, and a half-hour presentation on a past project. Upon arrival at the Fluke Networks site in Colorado Springs, I was met at the lobby by a current AEP participant. He briefly showed me around the place, then took me to the location of the first interview, which was technical. The interviewer asked me some basic interview questions, questions from my resume, and a few technical questions. This was also the format of the second and third interviews, which were also technical. Between the second and third interviews, I (along with other interviewees) was taken out to lunch with some of the current AEP participants. The fourth interview was a behavioral interview and it was by an HR person. Following the fourth interview, I was taken to a meeting room where I gave a presentation to the group of interviewers and other interviewees. After my presentation, I was asked two to three questions about how I dealt with various situations that arose while I was working on the past project (such as how I handled conflict with a team member). Finally, all the interviewees were taken out to dinner. Although I wasn't impressed by the work environment--it seemed like a dull place to work--I was very impressed with the level of technical expertise of each of the interviewers. I felt I could have done better with more preparation, especially on the behavioral interview.
