Initial phone screen, followed by an on-site that was broken into parts: critical thinking and communication, programming ability, white-boarding design, product sense, & general Q&A. They need me to bring a computer and do some pair-programming which is related to getting some data from websites.
I spoke with senior engineers and mid-level engineers, all with different focuses and interests on the team. I also spoke with a product manager who asked me a lot of questions about product specs and working with other departments. Finally, I spoke with the VP of Engineer, who talked more in-depth about the structure of the team, how engineering fit into the larger company and his experience as a manager.
Overall, I enjoyed my interview with Zipongo. I ended up declining to work there because another company’s offer seemed more appealing to me personally, but Zipongo felt like a fine place to work at. I really like the culture there. People are super friendly.
They have a secret room which is filled with wines and music instrument, a pingpong table. Seems like the company is super relaxing and people have a great work-life balance. I definitely love the place.
