The interview had about 12 people (dwindled down from over 300 applicants), we had three different staff members interviewing us in groups of 4. We were asked certain questions and put in the spotlight to represent ourselves and our hire-ability. It was lovely getting to know people’s backgrounds and felt friendly in general.
I don’t believe there was much they could improve on besides taking the time to interview people individually, a company I once went for sent unsuccessful people home and kept desirable ones to speak to 1-1. Although this makes it feel like somewhat of a dating show I think getting to know staff and applicants on a personal level is important. So an improvement in this would be great.
I am pretty sure it was an “inside” hire as the staff did seem to know some applicants and seem to favour some over others. When introducing myself and describing myself in three words a staff member made eyes at another applicant and giggled at me. After this my confidence as shoddy.
I think the applicants were varied however there were people who did have 0 experience in the Job role and probably should not have been considered nor invited for an interview, just based on the fact they have worked at a bar in the city somewhere.
