I got an initial phone call with HR, as my profile and portfolio seemed suitable for the role. However, there was a slight concern about my salary expectations, and I was informed that they would contact me for further interviews if the budget permitted. Subsequently, I received an invitation for a second interview (online), which led me to believe that my salary expectation was in line with the company's budget. Following the second interview, I was tasked with a design challenge with one week deadline. The final round of interviews was conducted in person, focusing on discussing the outcome of my design challenge. Overall, it was a positive experience. However, after some days of silence, I decided to follow up. I was then informed that the team still had reservations about my portfolio, citing a lack of sufficient projects, and my salary expectation remained a concern. At this point, I couldn't help but wonder why I had even progressed to the second interview if my portfolio and salary expectations were potential roadblocks. It felt quite perplexing. As a result, I emailed the team saying I would like to withdraw my application.
