      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Fuel Medical (Camas, WA) in Jan 2018

      Interview

Applied online. Had a brief phone screening and invited onsite for a ~45 minute interview the week after that with the lead developer and another developer. The questions were mainly centered around soft skills and then 2 really simple technical questions and then 2 other technical questions that should be easy to answer if you have used a MVC framework before. Both developers I talked to were friendly but a few minutes into the interview I could already tell this wasn't going to be the right culture fit for both parties. I rated my experience as neutral since I wasn't particularly fond of the onsite interview process. I will admit that I did flubbed some of the soft skills questions due to not expecting them and just getting back into the interview cycle, but felt like the interview could have been conducted better to ease the interviewer in. I was expecting more of a conversation between me and the interviewers instead of just being asked questions from a list and barely any clarifying questions in between. I did have a chance to ask questions in the end but never truly felt comfortable during the interview. I guess I'll just chalk that up to me not being as sharp as I would have liked that day. Overall, I think the process could be improved if most of the questions that were asked during the onsite interview were asked during the phone interview instead. Leave the onsite interview for mostly technical questions/whiteboard exercises. Would save both parties the time since I know Camas is a bit out there for most people. I do appreciate the time FuelMedical took to interview me, and it served as good practice for me for my future interviews.

Thank you for taking the time to provide a thoughtful review of our interview process. Like most employers, we don’t often get feedback about what the interview looks like from the candidate’s perspective. As you noted, half way through you knew it wasn’t the right fit, so in that regard the process did what it was supposed to, but it was particularly interesting to hear how you felt about the soft skills questions that we feel are integral to our on-site interviews. We really appreciate your comments and your time, both during the interview as well as in the follow-up process. If you’d like to share anything further, please don’t hesitate to contact us at 360 818 9434.

      Interview

I had brief phone interview and the following week I had an in-person technical interview with two of their devs, where I was asked about stuff I've worked on/with, ReST API's, what I'd use if I got to design my own app, and misc other stuff like how I keep up with technology. Nothing very advanced. I appreciated the efficiency of the process.
