I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at GE Aerospace in Jun 2011
Interview
I was referred by a friend who is an employee. The process went as follows. I took significant time to review and update my resume. Then I submitted it and received an email from the hiring manager for a phone interview. The phone interview went well and was basically just a rehash and further explanation of my projects and accomplishments during the current position I was in. Next I received an email asking me for an in person interview. The interview was behavior based and lasted about an hour. Some impromptu testing or questioning on technical subjects may occur to demonstrate competence.

Question 1
describe a situation where you had to solve a difficult problem using the scientific method, what process and /or steps did you use?
Panel style with multiple ME and the head ME. Very relaxed tone. Questions were about past work experience, and what courses I had taken in school. Panel members all were very knowledgeable about their specific part of operation.
Very friendly, the recruiter was super prompt and helpful, and was always available for questions or concerns before the interview. I interviewed in front of a 5-person panel with all direct reports, and I only had 1 interview. The team was super friendly and explained the role in great detail.
