      Software Engineer Interview

      Nov 11, 2010
      Anonymous employee
      Raleigh, NC
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at GSK (Raleigh, NC) in Nov 2010

      Interview

It was a very pleasant experience. The recruiter contacted me via phone and asked me about my courses and projects related to the qualifications they were looking for. He described the position to me. Later I was called for an onsite interview. The whole team talked to me in groups of two and asked me several questions and kept asking tools and languages I used for doing my academic projects. The whole process was very smooth and each and every one of them made it really comfortable. They key is to have general software skills and a burning desire to learn and excel.

      Question 1

What type of databases, repositories and languages you used for you academic projects?

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at GSK (Zug) in Oct 2024

      Interview

HR screening, followed by a programming task to be solved at home and 2 technical interviews. The process was extremely slow and coordinated from overseas, causing even more delay in the system. After the last round, they made me wait weeks for an answer. By the time they replied with a decline, I already accepted an offer elsewhere. The technical part was interesting, but the process itself was extremely painful.

      Question 1

Standard data science questions, e.g. explain the bias-variance tradeoff, difference between Bayesian and frequentist inference

      Software Engineer Interview

      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at GSK

      Interview

Matched on Ripple. Applied. Given an extremely lengthy automatic HR Online Assessment that took a substantial amount of time, just to get rejected weeks later with 0 follow-up. I passed these HR OA's for every company I've applied to, so this must be auto. The next steps would be a technical screen. To be honest it is a complete disrespect of the interviewers time.

      Question 1

GSK OA: "Your colleague has a terrible idea you don't agree with, rank these 5 items based on what you'd be likely to do"
