      Technical Specialist Interview

      Mar 6, 2018
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      San Diego, CA
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at General Atomics (San Diego, CA) in Jan 2018

      Interview

Typical process: phone screen with recruiter which followed, a day after, by a call to schedule a face-to-face. I met with 5 people including the hiring manager and several VPs. Two weeks later an offer came down the pipes: 50cents/hour above the minimum figure on the salary scale for the position. (I discussed this with the recruiter during the initial interview.) I countered with what I thought was a modest number, also within their range. It took them four days to decide, they declined. Luckily I had two offers on the table and, even though it expired, I was able to salvage the other offer last minute. Read the reviews on here: they don't entertain counter offers, they don't play ball. As long as that happens, GA will end up with bottom-shelf talent. "You're worth more than the bottom dollar" is something I wish I learned earlier in my career.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Offbeat questions depending on who I was with: Were you a good student in college? What was your GPA? (this was asked even though I graduated 6 years ago) Are you single?
