      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at General Atomics (San Diego, CA) in Jun 2009

      Interview

Submitted resume through friend who had just recently started working there, but in a different department. With her good word, I was able to secure an interview fairly quickly. Interviewed with two contractor employees (together) and hiring manager. Total interview time took around two hours, with some time talking to HR.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Nothing terribly difficult beyond basic EVMS questions.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at General Atomics (Poway, CA) in Oct 2024

      Interview

The interview process was very fast. First, there was a phone interview, and then I went in for a 4 tiered interview done in one session. The first round was a written exam, then a one-on-one, then a panel of two, last a three-person panel. Each section of the interview was slotted for 30 minutes. It was very long and felt repetitive. When I spoke to the interviewers they did not even know the other people who were interviewing me which felt weird considering it was a medium-sized company. For my last interview, the hiring manager was about 10-15 minutes late and re-asked me questions that I had already answered and it felt like my time was being disrespected as I had to reanswer half of the questions that were already asked. The hiring manager seemed to question my experience to the point where he was asking why I put a specific job title down even though that is the title I was hired for. He seemed to be less personable and more accusatory and this was very offputting towards the end of a very long 2 hour interview process. Although I was not offered the position I would have declined just because of his demeanor and poor communication.

      Question 1

Why did you put *job title* as your job title on your resume?

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at General Atomics (Poway, CA) in Jul 2016

      Interview

Standard online application, and was contacted by a recruiter about 2 weeks later. Scheduled for an interview 2 weeks after that, where I met an HR specialist followed by panel interview with the Project Controls team. HR specialist asked standard background questions, salary expectations, and career path. Project Controls Team went much more in depth with EVM/Scheduling technical questions, but were patient and interested in what I had to say regarding my experience. Overall not a bad process, but their offer was non-negotiable and 15% less than current pay and more than 20% less than 2 other offers I received. They ultimately will not be able to hire folks if they pay bottom dollar.

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at General Atomics (Poway, CA) in May 2016

      Interview

Good. Simple and what was expected. There was a group of multiple people. Meet with each person individually which was great. Everyone I meant with was professional and nice. Spoke with HR first. Spoke with team I was interviewing with. HR seems to be stingy with pay. Overall, GA is lower paying than other companies.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

There were multiple people I interviewed with. Lots of behavioral questions from one person. Other people great conversation. Went over resume. I enjoyed the casual interview getting to know the team. One girl asked technical questions about systems they would be using. Never degrading. Overall, interview was a plus.
