After a recruiter contacted me and told me more about the company and what they were looking for, I had setup the first initial call with the VP of engineering. Mostly, I had the opportunity to introduce myself, talk about why I was interested in the company and my experience as an IC and engineering manager. I felt most of the questions were very standard. At the end of the interview I had time to ask a couple of questions myself, so I took the opportunity and asked “you said you are a company that makes money mostly by selling holiday passes, what did you learn from COVID? Do you have any backup plans in case another global pandemic hits the world again?” It seems they didn’t prepare too much for that kind of question and I didn’t get a proper response. The call ended after that question.
