      Customer Success Manager Interview

      Nov 14, 2018
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Declined offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Gong

      Interview

Short. Unorganized. Unprofessional. These would be the three words I'd use to describe my experience. I decided against proceeding with interviewing at this company because if there were this many red flags in the prescreening portion--there's no way the experience would be better actually working here. I applied on linkedin and received a bizarre email a day later: "So sorry on the delayed response XXXXX. I know you submitted your resume some time ago. We have been in process of switching our applicant tracking system over to a new platform and I'm just now getting everything put in." Lets confirm next Tue @ 330pm. Invite coming your way now! **** This was super odd because there was not a delay at all. I applied literally 28 hours before! In any event, I scheduled the meeting for yesterday.... Yesterday came and went and I received no call, no email, no nothing to explain why a scheduled meeting was not happening. You cannot have expectations hire for potential candidates, then you have for yourself, as the interviewing party. Nonetheless, I gave the benefit of the doubt and sent over an email after 15minutes had gone by. Perhaps an emergency happened. Or a message had been sent but just didnt make it over? The next day, I received this awfully unexcusable response: I'm so sorry xxxxx! My day ran away from me quickly yesterday and I'm traveling, so the time difference caught me off guard. Can we reschedule for Fri/Mon/Tue? **** NO, we won't be rescheduling. Learn to value the time that potential candidates are prioritizing to learn more about your company, or find someone who is proficient enough to get the job done. This sets a terrible example of what someone should expect if they were to work here. I will pass.

      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Gong (Chicago, IL) in May 2026

      Interview

The interview process was very straightforward with 4 rounds. One initial recruiter screen, hiring manager, mock presentation, and final meeting with a senior leader. All of which, were scenario based questions and insight into one’s professional career experience. I appreciated the thoroughness and professionalism of the team

      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Gong (Boston, MA)

      Interview

Really disappointed with my experience with Gong, I use their product and think it’s great. I didn’t officially apply for the role but was contacted by the recruiter for an exploratory chat. After a couple of questions around my background, the recruiter immediately decided that I should be put forward for a less senior role despite my experience and I didn’t get a chance to ask a few questions and the recruiter said they had to run and could only answer 1. Although I didn’t officially apply, I received a rejection email which I find insulting especially as this was meant to be an exploratory chat.
