      Customer Success Manager Interview

      Jun 21, 2019
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Gong

      Interview

Applied online and a few days later received an email from a recruiter about scheduling a phone interview. I replied back a day or so later with some days and times to chat. I received nothing in response. A week after receiving the initial email to schedule a phone interview, I received the generic 'denial' email, which made no sense. This is tacky and unprofessional on their part, because 1. since it was a generic 'denial' email there were no apologies for being unresponsive and 2. how are you going to send a generic 'denial' email stating that my skills were not a match when the recruiter emailed me stating they were interested in learning more about my skills? And 3. if the position was filled then why not convey that? This brief experience left a bad impression about this company and how it handles their hiring process...

I completely agree with you and would also have a bad impression of a company if this was my candidate journey. I'm truly sorry that this was your experience and want to extend an apology on behalf of the talent team and also Gong. Not sure who your recruiter was but no excuses, we dropped the ball. I completely understand if we've lost our chance with you but if you're open to it — I'd love to set up a call to apologize and also unpack your qualifications/opportunities at Gong. Feel free to shoot me an email or connect with me on LinkedIn. All the best and thank you for these insights. Kindly, Eric Lindroos eric.lindroos@gong.io

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Gong (Chicago, IL) in May 2026

      Interview

The interview process was very straightforward with 4 rounds. One initial recruiter screen, hiring manager, mock presentation, and final meeting with a senior leader. All of which, were scenario based questions and insight into one’s professional career experience. I appreciated the thoroughness and professionalism of the team

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Gong (Boston, MA)

      Interview

Really disappointed with my experience with Gong, I use their product and think it’s great. I didn’t officially apply for the role but was contacted by the recruiter for an exploratory chat. After a couple of questions around my background, the recruiter immediately decided that I should be put forward for a less senior role despite my experience and I didn’t get a chance to ask a few questions and the recruiter said they had to run and could only answer 1. Although I didn’t officially apply, I received a rejection email which I find insulting especially as this was meant to be an exploratory chat.
