Interview process took place over the time frame of approximately one month. Probably one of the most unprofessional interview processes I’ve been through. The first interview was with the district manager. He was a very nice gentleman, but ended up straying far away from his scripted interview. We talked about all kinds of past experiences and the business in general. Although pleasant, the interview ended up taking close to two and a half hours of my time that day. I enjoyed talking with him, but at that point, my time could’ve been spent more effectively searching for another job, and that’s wasted time I’ll never get back. He scheduled me for a second interview with his store manager, to make sure we meshed, which I felt also went great. As I was leaving he had literally told me to be expecting a call with an offer. I walked out feeling great, and did something dumb, I suspended my job search believing I had the job. I received a call from the store manager the next day saying that he couldn’t get together with his district manager until after the holidays as it was Thanksgiving week. He also let me know that he had an interview that he didn’t know about scheduled for that next Tuesday and they would call me afterwards. This is when I felt things were going a little south. I never did receive a call that next Tuesday as promised, or Wednesday, or Thursday… I finally sent a follow up email at the beginning of the next week, and was completely ghosted. Finally I sent one last follow up email the next week and got a response, that although a hard choice, they went with someone else. I’ve been turned down for positions before, and am fine with it. Not every job is a good fit, but from the district manager’s “extended” interview, to actually telling me personal information about the store manager and how his father had just died, to the store manager telling me to expect a call with an offer, and then telling me he had another interview scheduled that he didn’t know about, to being ghosted after the interview process, this place manifested a lot of very unprofessional behavior throughout the entire interview process. Based solely on that alone, I’m glad this didn’t work out, but I do want to give people a heads up as to what this interview process was like for me. I was told in my interviews that they really do believe in promoting from within, which is great. They told me I was the only outside applicant. I do believe they went with an internal candidate, and probably knowing that they were going to promote from within all along, they could’ve been more professional with the process by sticking to their scripted interview, not taking up so much of my personal time, and by not telling me to expect a call with an offer, only to be ghosted. 0/10 would not recommend wasting your time interviewing with this company.
