      User Experience Designer Intern Interview

      Application

The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Google (New York, NY) in Mar 2011

      Interview

I submitted my resume online for a user experience designer internship, and got contacted by a recruiter who set up two phone interviews with people from their New York office. I was asked to answer some generic questions regarding my design process, some questions regarding the design of my own portfolio site, and a few hands-on design questions by working remotely on a Google Doc drawing. After the phone interviews I was asked to go on-site for an 1:1 interview. Apart from questions like 'why do you want to work here', it mostly consisted of design exercises like: design a comment interface, design a new interface for a existing service, etc. The real purpose of these exercise is to see how you approach the problems and how organized is your design process. Also being able to draw nice wireframes will be a good plus (the interviewer kindly pointed out that I didn't draw carefully). I got rejected after two weeks, probably because my design process wasn't organized enough - I just jumped in there and started sketching. Should've focused on what problems needed to be solved first and then come up with points and solutions.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 months. I interviewed at Google in Feb 2025

      Interview

I received a Candidate Interest Form in beginning of January asking to fill a few short responses (500 words) and shared team interests. I got an interview scheduling request by end of January, and had my interviews early February. It has been closed to three weeks and I have not heard back from the recruiter, so chances of getting an offer was unlikely.

      Interview

The first step of the process is an assignment. There are three problem statements and you have to come up with a solution within a week. You have to submit a low fidelity overview of core flow and 2 key high fidelity screens of the flow.

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Google (San Bruno, CA) in Oct 2022

      Interview

First there was a call with a recruiter, than a technical interview, and then a project matching interview. Portfolio presentation was necessary for the technical interviews as well as design challenges.
