I was contacted by a Google recruiter in June 2022 to interview for a UX Designer apprenticeship position. A time was arranged for me to complete a phone interview in July and I prepared for two weeks for this interview. However, when I started chatting with the interviewer, I discovered this interview was not for the job I was told I would be interviewing for. The interviewer thought I was interviewing for a Software Engineer role. After the interview ended, I sent an email to the recruiter asking what happened with the UX Designer Apprenticeship interview. She told me she would forward my resume to the UX apprenticeship recruiting team and that they were actively reviewing applications. On July 28th, I was told the UX apprenticeship position had closed in May and they were unable to accept new applications at this time. So, my first contact from a Google recruiter was in June after the position had already closed! I was told my application would be reviewed by the UX recruiting team in July, again, after the position was closed for weeks. So, now I am being told to "try again" when apprenticeships open up again in 2023.
