1. Application & Screening
You apply via job portals, company websites, or referrals.
HR screening checks your resume for required skills, education, and experience.
Sometimes includes a quick phone call to verify details and expectations (availability, salary, notice period).
2. Assessment / Skill Test
Technical tests (CAD modeling, CAE simulation, coding, or aptitude).
Could be written MCQs, problem-solving exercises, or hands-on tasks (e.g., designing in SolidWorks, running an Ansys simulation).
Some companies use take-home assignments or online timed tests.
3. First Technical Interview
Usually with a team lead or senior engineer.
Focus on technical skills, projects from your resume, problem-solving approach, and real-world scenarios.
May include whiteboard design problems or live software demos.
4. Second Technical / Managerial Interview
Checks deeper technical knowledge, decision-making, and ability to handle complex situations.
Manager assesses team fit, communication skills, and project handling ability.
May also ask behavioral questions (“Tell me about a time you solved a major problem…”).
5. HR / Final Interview
Discusses salary, benefits, and joining date.
Confirms cultural fit and career goals.
Sometimes the final decision-maker (Director/VP) joins to approve.
6. Offer & Onboarding
Company sends a formal offer letter.
You go through background verification (if required).
Onboarding process starts.
I applied online. I interviewed at Harry Ramsden's (Eastbourne, England) in Mar 2023
Interview
Group interview, standard questions very easy. E.g. looking at current/previous employment and experience, availability, holiday, etc. Given a tour of the restaurant and kitchen and run through some procedures, interview process was basically a job introduction, everyone there got the job.
