      Validation Engineer Interview

      May 21, 2019
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Helix in Mar 2019

      Interview

After thinking a lot and considering not putting this out, this review is for the sake of others who think about applying to this company. I have gone through many interviews in my career myself and interviewed people for my team, but I wanted to share this experience so that it might help someone in the future. The process started with the HR Recruiter from Helix reaching out to me thought LinkedIn and then starting the conversation about the position and my expectations and the position details and salary range. That followed by a Technical interview with the hiring Manager and then by an onsite interview with the extended team on site. The recruiter reaches out to me in a couple weeks and talks about salary package and other benefits and gets all my professional references to check, giving the belief that they are going forward with me and then all of a sudden there is no contact whatsoever (fair enough). I reach out to the recruiter to check if I am still in contention, and they tell me I am one of the finalists for the job. After a couple of weeks again the recruiter reaches out to me and then starts to talk if I am still interested and this time they start to check out my references and they do offer me the role and send out an official offer letter. We talk about potential start dates and starting other formalities for me to join. I am constantly in touch with the support team for background check, which is all OK and this whole process is taking at least 3 weeks. All of a sudden there is no response to any emails and one fine day a person from HR calls me and tells me that they are rescinding my offer due to some internal changes. They did not even consider if I had already told my current employer. If they had anticipated internal reorg please don’t waste other people’s time. This whole process took at least 3 months and after mentally making myself ready for this new position, these people make such a decision. This tells a lot and I leave it to people looking at this review to decide about this establishment.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We understand your frustration and we do not take this difficult decision lightly. Our goal during the interview process is to make sure that the Helix team and the candidate are well equipped with information. We want to make sure that the process is thorough and that both parties are making the best decisions. Our process can take a few weeks with all the variables involved (+ scheduling) and we try to accommodate and inform the candidate as best as we can. We apologize if there was any time where you didn’t hear from our team. It’s very important to Helix that we provide a good experience for all candidates. Our intention was to bring on a Validation Engineer but things did change. Being that we understood your situation, we were aware of the importance of letting you know as soon as we could, which we did (the day we found out, we called you). We specifically knew that you were still with your current employer and that you could find a new opportunity while working. We understand that applying, interviewing and getting a new job is a very important and emotional process. We do apologize for your situation and we wish you success throughout your career. -VP, Quality and Research & Development
